Skoda Auto Volkswagen India announced on July 4, 2025, that it has manufactured 500,000 vehicles across its two production facilities in India, marking a significant milestone for the Czech automaker's Indian operations.
The production achievement spans two manufacturing plants located in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, formerly known as Aurangabad. Approximately 70 percent of the vehicles were manufactured at the Pune facility, with the remaining 30 percent produced at the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar plant.
Skoda first began manufacturing operations in India in 2001 with the rollout of the Octavia model from its Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar facility. Since then, the company has expanded its portfolio to include models such as the Laura, Superb, Kodiaq, Kushaq, Slavia, and the recently introduced Kylaq, which is positioned as the brand's first sub-4-meter vehicle.
The Indian manufacturing operations now serve both domestic and international markets. Parts and components manufactured in India are being shipped to Skoda's newly established manufacturing plant in Vietnam, where the Kushaq and Slavia models will be assembled locally for the Vietnamese market.
Andreas Dick, Skoda Auto's Board Member for Production and Logistics, stated that the milestone reflects the company's commitment to India and operational excellence through local engineering talent and global manufacturing processes.
Piyush Arora, CEO and Managing Director of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, emphasized that the achievement represents building connections with customers rather than merely producing vehicles. He noted that the milestone coincides with Skoda Auto's 130th anniversary globally and its 25th year of operations in India.
The company also reported record monthly sales in March 2025, delivering 7,422 units in a single month. Skoda Auto Volkswagen India operates under the parent organization that manages five automotive brands in India: Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, and Lamborghini.
The Indian subsidiary has received recognition as a 'Great Place to Work' and 'Top Employer,' and was named among HR Asia's 'Best Companies to Work for in Asia' in 2023. The company maintains its headquarters in Pune and operates manufacturing facilities in Chakan, Pune, and Shendra, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
