Sensorise has launched the Wega M1, a Made-in-India 4G GSM module for Internet of Things (IoT) and machine-to-machine (M2M) connectivity applications, at India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026. Based on Qualcomm’s 216 LTE IoT Modem, the module is designed for applications including electric vehicles (EVs), smart meters, point-of-sale (POS) terminals, asset tracking, logistics and industrial IoT.
The module was unveiled by Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia. Sensorise plans to take the Wega M1 to market in the first quarter of 2027, with initial deployments planned with select anchor customers.
Made-in-India Alternative to Imported 4G Cellular Modules
Designed and manufactured in India, the Wega M1 is positioned as an alternative to imported cellular modules. Its pin-compatible design is intended to simplify migration for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and reduce the need for hardware redesign.
The launch comes amid industry and policy discussions around data sovereignty, cybersecurity and domestic electronics manufacturing. Sensorise said the module was developed in response to the need for an India-developed connectivity component, particularly as Indian telecom policies increasingly emphasise domestic SIM personalisation and the development of network elements within the country.
Wega M1 Features: eSIM, Multi-IMSI and Remote SIM Provisioning
The Wega M1 supports multi-operator and multi-IMSI functionality, eSIM and remote SIM provisioning (RSP). It also incorporates QoSIM integration for connectivity monitoring and analytics. According to Sensorise, the module is designed for a lifecycle of 10–15 years and takes applicable Department of Telecommunications (DoT), MTCTE/TTC, information security and data-governance requirements into account.
Qualcomm Support and Sensorise’s eSIM Connectivity Plans
Manmeet Singh, business head for automotive, connectivity, broadband and IoT at Qualcomm India, said the company was supporting Sensorise with cellular connectivity technology for a range of IoT applications.
Karn Nagpal, president of Sensorise, said the company sees opportunities in bundling eSIM connectivity with 4G modules as IoT and M2M deployments expand. He added that the company is developing a product roadmap to address future network enhancements and market requirements.
Sensorise provides M2M eSIM and IoT connectivity solutions for sectors including utilities, mobility, retail, logistics and industrial IoT.
