Samvardhana Motherson Q2 FY27 Net Profit Rises 44% as Revenue Grows 27%

Samvardhana Motherson International reported a 44% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to ₹1,217.6 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with ₹845.6 crore in the corresponding period last year. Revenue from operations rose 26.9% to ₹38,279.9 crore from ₹30,173 crore.

The growth in revenue was accompanied by a 26.3% increase in total expenses, which stood at ₹36,846.5 crore compared with ₹29,166.7 crore in Q2 FY26. Profit before tax increased 37.9% to ₹1,705.1 crore from ₹1,237 crore.

The company's share of profit from associates and joint ventures also increased to ₹191.7 crore during the quarter, compared with ₹145.6 crore a year earlier.

Revenue Growth Accompanied by Higher Operating Costs

The increase in expenses was led by higher material consumption, which rose to ₹21,392.5 crore from ₹16,338.6 crore in the year-ago quarter. Employee benefits expense increased to ₹9,420.6 crore from ₹7,440.1 crore, while other expenses rose to ₹4,605.6 crore from ₹3,619.3 crore.

Depreciation and amortisation expenses stood at ₹1,256.4 crore, compared with ₹1,081.8 crore in Q2 FY26. Finance costs increased to ₹524.8 crore from ₹386.5 crore.

In absolute terms, revenue increased by around ₹8,107 crore year on year, while total expenses rose by approximately ₹7,680 crore. This supported the increase in profit before tax, although the rise in earnings should be viewed alongside the higher cost base.

The quarter also reflected the consolidation of businesses acquired in July 2026. These included Nexans Autoelectric and Elektrokontakt, along with the acquired stakes in Yutaka Giken and Shinnichi Kogyo. The acquisitions expanded the group's consolidation base during the reporting period.

Wiring Harness and Emerging Businesses Record Revenue Growth

Among the company's business segments, wiring harness recorded revenue of ₹14,382.1 crore, compared with ₹8,549.6 crore in Q2 FY26. The modules and polymer products segment reported revenue of ₹15,955.9 crore, against ₹15,373.8 crore a year earlier.

Revenue from vision systems increased to ₹5,418.2 crore from ₹5,083.8 crore, while integrated assemblies reported revenue of ₹2,649.9 crore compared with ₹2,580.1 crore.

The emerging businesses segment recorded revenue of ₹6,452.4 crore, up from ₹4,001.3 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

In terms of segment results, wiring harness contributed ₹1,432 crore, followed by modules and polymer products at ₹1,324.3 crore. Vision systems reported ₹499.4 crore, emerging businesses ₹542.9 crore and integrated assemblies ₹325.1 crore.

The development forms part of the company's expansion of its manufacturing footprint in the region.

The Paraguay development is a separate business update and is not identified in the Q2 FY27 financial results as a contributor to the quarter's reported revenue or profit.
