Renesas announced it has launched its new RX74M and RX74N flagship 32-bit microcontrollers on Thursday, marking the first devices in its RX Family built on a 22nm process node.
The new microcontrollers integrate a 600 MHz RXv3e core with 1 MB of MRAM, 256 KB of zero-wait-state Tightly Coupled Memory, and 1.5 MB of SRAM, delivering double the processing speed of the previous 240 MHz RX72M and RX72N generation.
The devices incorporate hardware security features through ProtectZone architecture and updated Renesas Secure IP to support post-quantum cryptography algorithms and comply with Europe's Cyber Resilience Act requirements.
Yoshi Ishikawa, Senior Director of the EP Advanced MCU Business Division at Renesas, said, "Industrial equipment development requires three key elements: advanced real-time performance, diverse industrial networking and robust security. By integrating these requirements into a single chip, the new products simplify the design of increasingly complex industrial equipment and support the evolution of industrial automation."
