Renault India recorded domestic wholesale dispatches of 5,046 units in March 2026, a 77% increase over the 2,846 units sold in the same month a year earlier. The result marks the company's steepest year-on-year monthly gain in recent quarters and comes at the close of a financial year in which the automaker has steadily rebuilt sales volume following a period of subdued performance in the Indian market.

For the full fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, Renault India's total domestic sales stood at 42,018 units, up 11% from 37,900 units in FY25. The company attributed the full-year growth to a combination of product refreshes, a sharper focus on the value-premium segment, and renewed consumer interest following the announcement of the Duster's return.

The March numbers also represent a notable sequential improvement over the preceding month. In February 2026, Renault India reported wholesale dispatches of 3,495 units — a 31% year-on-year rise over 2,676 units in February 2025. The company had described that performance as part of a "sustained positive momentum" building through the calendar year, with cumulative growth of 32% in the first two months of 2026 compared to the same period the previous year.

The refreshed Kiger and Triber continued to be the primary volume drivers. The two models together accounted for 63% of March 2026 sales. Since their launches in the second quarter of FY26 through to the end of the financial year, the pair delivered a cumulative growth of 27%. In February alone, the Triber recorded a 57% year-on-year increase, underscoring consistent retail demand for the multi-purpose vehicle in the entry-level segment.

March also marked the beginning of dispatches for the new Renault Duster — the relaunch of the SUV nameplate that had been discontinued in India in 2022 after a decade-long run. The Duster had been one of Renault's most recognisable products in India and played a key role in establishing the brand's presence in the country following its entry in 2011. Its return has been anticipated since Renault Group signalled a renewed focus on the Indian market as part of its broader global strategy. The company had earlier noted that the Duster's announced comeback contributed to a measurable increase in dealership footfalls in the months preceding its launch.

The broader sales recovery has been building progressively. Renault India reported 9% year-on-year growth in the third quarter of calendar year 2025, which accelerated to 27% in the fourth quarter. That trajectory continued into early 2026, with 32% growth recorded across January and February, before the sharper 77% jump in March. The company has described this as a reflection of its updated product strategy and a "sharper premium value proposition" for Indian consumers.

Renault India is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Renault Group, the French automaker headquartered in Boulogne-Billancourt. The Indian subsidiary manufactures its vehicles at its Oragadam plant on the outskirts of Chennai, which has an installed annual production capacity of 480,000 units. The facility also serves as an export base for select markets. Renault Group has in recent years been restructuring its global operations, and India remains one of its key growth markets in Asia.
