Renault India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Renault Group, today announced an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 29 km/litre for the new Renault Duster strong hybrid E-Tech 160, and opened bookings for the vehicle ahead of its official market debut in India.
Customers can book the SUV for INR 21,000 through the Renault India website or at authorised Renault dealerships across the country. The vehicle will make its official market debut and full reveal in India on October 17, 2026.
The Duster strong hybrid E-Tech 160 will be the first E-Tech model introduced in India under Renault’s futuREady roadmap.
Renault Duster Strong Hybrid Engine, Motors and Battery
The SUV has a strong-hybrid powertrain made up of a 1.8-litre petrol engine, two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery. The combined output is 160 PS.
How the Duster Strong Hybrid Works Without External Charging
A multi-mode transmission automatically manages the petrol engine and electric motors according to driving conditions. Under suitable conditions the system can run on electric power. It recovers energy during deceleration and braking and switches between electric and combustion propulsion.
The battery charges while the vehicle is driven and does not need an external charging source.
Renault Duster Hybrid as an Alternative to Diesel SUVs
Renault is positioning the Duster strong hybrid E-Tech 160 as an option for customers considering alternatives to diesel SUVs, which have traditionally appealed to buyers seeking performance and fuel efficiency.
Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Renault Group India, said: “Bringing Renault’s proven E-Tech strong-hybrid technology from Europe to India is a significant moment for us. Indian SUV customers should not have to choose between performance and fuel efficiency. With a combined output of 160 PS and an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 29 km/litre, the Duster strong hybrid E-Tech 160 brings both together in a versatile SUV, without requiring external charging. For customers considering alternatives to diesel, it offers a compelling new choice for everyday driving. We are pleased to open bookings ahead of its official market debut.”
