Dr S.B. (Ravi) Pandit, Chairman and Co-Founder of KPIT Technologies, passed away on May 8, 2026, in Pune, according to a regulatory filing issued by the company.
Pandit was widely associated with the growth of India’s automotive software and engineering ecosystem. He co-founded KPIT Technologies and led the company’s expansion into software-defined mobility, electrification, autonomous technologies and clean energy engineering solutions across global markets.
Under his leadership, KPIT established operations in 15 countries and worked with automotive manufacturers and mobility companies across the US, Europe and Asia.
Apart from KPIT Technologies, Pandit also chaired Kirtane & Pandit Chartered Accountants (KPCA), a professional services firm with operations across multiple international markets.
His work extended beyond the automotive and technology sectors into public policy, sustainability and institution building. He co-founded organisations such as Pune International Centre and Janwani, while also supporting policy research initiatives through the Centre for Sustainable Development at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE). Pandit served as President of Jnana Prabodhini and held board positions at Thermax Ltd, World Resources Institute India and Aga Khan Rural Support Programme India.
In recent years, Pandit was part of the Empowered Group for India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission as its only private-sector member. He had also launched HRIDAY (Hydrogen Revolution for India’s Development of Agriculture & EnergY), an initiative focused on the role of hydrogen technologies in agriculture and rural development.
