Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Pune Rural Police departments induct specially modified motorcycles equipped with emergency lights, PA systems, and GPS tracking to improve patrolling capabilities and rapid response operations.
Police departments across Pune district have inducted 100 specially customized Bajaj Dominar 400 motorcycles designed to enhance law enforcement operations across urban and rural areas.
The fleet, manufactured by Bajaj Auto Ltd., was formally received at Pune Police Ground, Shivajinagar, by senior officials including Amitesh Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Pune; Vinay Choubey, Commissioner of Police, Pimpri-Chinchwad; and Sandeep Gill, Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural. The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking civic officials from across the district.
The motorcycles feature significant modifications from standard models to meet operational requirements. Each unit is equipped with LED emergency lights, sirens, and public address systems with push-to-talk radio transmission capabilities. Additional features include GPS tracking systems, charging points for communication equipment, integrated lockable storage panniers with top boxes, and emergency first aid kits.
The Dominar 400 models are powered by 373.3cc liquid-cooled engines and include advanced safety features such as dual-channel anti-lock braking systems, traction control, and electronic suspension adjustments designed for high-speed pursuits and varied terrain conditions.
Before being allocated to regular patrol duties, the motorcycles will participate in the official convoy for the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026, scheduled from 19-23 January. The event will cover 437 kilometers across 9 talukas and 150 villages in the Pune district.
The induction comes as law enforcement agencies increasingly adopt specialized motorcycles to improve mobility and emergency response capabilities in rapidly developing urban areas. The three police departments expect the new fleet to significantly enhance their patrolling efficiency across Pune's diverse geographical landscape.
