Pre-bookings open for Ather 450 Apex, launch on Jan 6
The 450 Apex appears visually identical to the 450S and 450X currently in the company’s lineup, with the only major difference being the rear bodywork.
The Ather 450 Apex is an upcoming e-scooter which the Bengaluru-based startup has been teasing for some time now. We know that this will be the quickest Ather e-scooter yet, featuring a new Warp+ mode that will be quicker than the already rapid Warp mode on the 450X. Pre-bookings for the 450 Apex are already open, and we can now confirm that an official launch will take place on January 6 at 12 noon.
Conceived to celebrate 10 years of Ather Energy, the 450 Apex appears visually identical to the 450S and 450X currently in the company’s lineup, with the only major difference being the rear bodywork. There seems to be something unique going on in this area, and perhaps we could once again see transparent body panels like we saw on the Series 1 Collector’s Edition e-scooter back in 2020. This seems to be backed up by the company’s teaser bearing the words “the only scooter that dares to bare”.
The company’s teasers also show it to have essentially the same 7-inch TFT touchscreen as the 450X, so expect most of the features to be carried over as well. These include Bluetooth connectivity, on-board navigation, hill-hold and controls for phone calls and music playback. Interestingly, another one of the teaser videos claims that the 450 Apex “eliminates the need for braking in most situations”, suggesting that perhaps the scooter will offer higher levels of regen, similar to single-pedal operation in some electric cars.
The Ather 450X, when equipped with a 3.7kWh battery pack, is currently priced at Rs 1.45 lakh. This goes up to Rs 1.68 lakh once you opt for the Pro Pack which brings in many of the fancy connected features. Expect the Apex to be priced above the X. Deliveries will begin in March this year, as per Ather.
The company also recently rolled out OTA updates for its 450X, and one of the improvements is that the scooter now provides two-wheeler-specific map routes for the on-board navigation system. Ather claims this is the first scooter in the world to offer two-wheeler specific routes for navigation.
