Ola Electric started delivering its Roadster X motorcycles across India today, marking the company's entry into the electric motorcycle market. The Bengaluru-based manufacturer announced offers worth ₹10,000 for the first 5,000 customers, including free extended warranty, MoveOS+ software, and essential care services under its "Ride the Future" campaign.
The Roadster X series features a mid-drive motor with chain drive system and integrated motor control unit designed to improve torque transfer and acceleration. The motorcycles use flat cables, which the company claims is an industry-first innovation aimed at reducing weight and improving thermal performance.
Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Ola Electric, said the Roadster X represents the company's expansion beyond scooters into motorcycles. "The Roadster X is designed, engineered, and built in India, for a generation that wants to ride the bike of the future," Aggarwal stated.
The motorcycle series includes brake-by-wire technology with single ABS and features such as regenerative braking, cruise control, and reverse mode through the MoveOS 5 operating system. The battery system carries IP67 certification for water and dust resistance and includes a serviceable battery management system.
Ola Electric has priced the Roadster X models between ₹99,999 and ₹1,99,999, depending on battery capacity. The entry-level 2.5kWh model starts at ₹99,999, while the top-end 9.1kWh variant with 4680 Bharat Cell technology offers a range of 501 kilometers per charge and costs ₹1,99,999.
The company, which became India's largest electric scooter manufacturer, operates more than 4,000 retail stores across the country. Ola Electric manufactures its vehicles at the Futurefactory facility in Tamil Nadu and conducts research and development activities in India, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Ola Electric's move into motorcycles comes as the Indian electric two-wheeler market continues to grow, driven by government incentives and increasing consumer interest in electric mobility. The company has positioned itself as a vertically integrated manufacturer, producing battery cells and other components in addition to vehicles.
