Oben Electric Introduces 24/7 Customer Support Service
Electric motorcycle manufacturer expands service network with round-the-clock helpline and dedicated relationship managers to address industry support concerns.
Oben Electric launched a 24/7 customer support helpline today, as part of its efforts to address service gaps commonly associated with electric vehicle ownership in India. The Bangalore-based company said the initiative aims to provide continuous support for its electric motorcycle customers.
The company reported that 90% of service cases were resolved within 72 hours over the past three months. This performance metric reflects the company's approach to reducing downtime for riders, according to company data.
Oben Electric assigns dedicated relationship managers to each customer to handle support throughout the ownership period, from initial setup to maintenance and troubleshooting. The service network includes technicians certified to industry standards for diagnostics and repairs.
The company operates a three-tier roadside assistance program that combines its own service fleet with external providers and local partners. This network is designed to provide support in remote areas where traditional service options may be limited.
Oben Electric manufactures key components including lithium iron phosphate batteries, motors, vehicle control units, and chargers in-house. This vertical integration allows the company to maintain control over quality standards and diagnostic processes, which can affect repair turnaround times.
The company's warranty coverage includes up to eight years or 80,000 kilometers for its proprietary battery systems. A comprehensive warranty covers major components including the battery management system, motor, motor controller, and chassis for five years or 60,000 kilometers.
Currently operating 37 showrooms across India, each location includes a dedicated service center. The company plans to expand to more than 150 showrooms in over 50 cities by the end of the financial year, targeting tier 1, 2, and 3 markets.
Madhumita Agrawal, founder and CEO of Oben Electric, stated that building customer trust is necessary for increasing electric vehicle adoption in India. She indicated that the 24/7 support system and integrated service centers represent the company's commitment to providing quick and transparent customer service.
Founded in August 2020, Oben Electric focuses on research and development of electric motorcycles and related components. The company holds more than 25 patents for its technology and aims to establish itself as a leading electric motorcycle manufacturer in India's motorcycle market.
