NueGo introduces electric sleeper buses for intercity travel
NueGo has introduced India's first electric AC sleeper bus service for intercity travel, focusing on sustainability, comfort, and safety.
GreenCell Mobility's NueGo has launched India's first electric AC sleeper bus service for intercity routes, with operations planned across major corridors including Delhi-Amritsar, Bangalore-Chennai, and Hyderabad-Rajahmundry. The buses feature a 450 kWh high-voltage battery system with a range of 350 kilometers per charge, extendable to 600 kilometers daily through fast charging.
Devndra Chawla, MD & CEO of GreenCell Mobility, said the launch represents a step toward sustainable transportation, focusing on safety and passenger comfort while maintaining environmental responsibility.
The buses are built on India's first monocoque chassis and include features such as ergonomic berths with back-rest support, USB charging ports, night reading lamps, and modern sanitation facilities. Safety features comprise ABS brakes with ESC, full air suspension with ECAS, and a rollover-engineered structure.
NueGo has implemented security measures including CCTV surveillance, GPS tracking, driver breath analyzer tests, and speed limiting at 80 kilometers per hour. The company operates a 24-hour helpline for women travelers and offers a Pink Seat booking feature.
The service will operate on additional routes including Chennai-Madurai, Vijayawada-Vishakhapatnam, and Bangalore-Madurai. The buses utilize regenerative braking technology and produce zero tailpipe emissions.
GreenCell Mobility, through its NueGo brand, has positioned itself in India's electric intercity transport sector. The company aims to expand its presence in the sleeper bus market segment while promoting sustainable travel options.
The introduction of electric sleeper buses adds to India's growing electric vehicle infrastructure, particularly in the commercial transportation sector. This development aligns with national initiatives to reduce emissions in public transport.
