Deliveries for the all-new Porsche Panamera will begin from today, the German brand has announced as the third-gen model makes its India debut. At the international unveiling of the new Panamera, Porsche had said that bookings were to begin shortly. As we had reported then, the new Panamera for India will only be available with the V6 engine; it is priced at Rs 1.7 crore.

The new Panamera V6 is powered by a 2.9-litre turbocharged V6 petrol mill that produces 353hp and 500Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Porsche claims a 0-100kph time of 5.1 seconds, and a top speed of 272kph. The Panamera now gets the adaptive air suspension, Porsche calls it Active Suspension Management (PASM), as standard.

The Rs 1.7 crore price tag is, of course, ex-showroom, India, and without all the options and accessories; one extra is a 10.9-inch screen front passenger display. However, standard equipment on the Panamera includes matrix LED headlights, parking assistance, a driving mode selector on the steering wheel, a full-HD 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, a cooled smartphone compartment with wireless charging,  8-way adjustable electric seats, and six airbags.

In V6 form, the Panamera doesn’t have a direct rival in the country. However, when Porsche brings the Panamera V8s here, those will compete with the Rs 3.3 crore Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance 4-door Coupe. However, the hybrid versions of the Panamera will not be coming to the country.
