Michelin to Become Exclusive Tire Supplier for WorldSBK from 2027
The company will supply tires for all categories of the championship, applying innovations from MotoGP and MotoE.
Michelin will become the exclusive tire supplier for the FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) starting in 2027. The agreement will run until the end of the 2031 season, covering all championship categories. The company will apply technological innovations developed in MotoGP and MotoE to WorldSBK tires, enhancing their adaptability for both track and road use.
Michelin views this partnership as an expansion of its presence in motorcycle racing, allowing it to transfer innovations from premier competition categories to a championship where motorcycles are closer to production models. The company previously competed in WorldSBK in the early 2000s, winning 12 titles in an open-competition format.
"We are very pleased to be able to commit so quickly to a world-class motorcycle racing championship starting in 2027," said Matthieu Bonardel, Director of Michelin Motorsport. "The WorldSBK offers an ideal environment to bring our technologies even closer to those used by all riders, whether on the track or on the road. The audience of this championship is mainly made up of enthusiasts who own super sport motorcycles. For them, we will do everything possible to deliver high-quality entertainment, supported by tires with outstanding performance."
The partnership supports Michelin’s broader strategy of developing high-performance, durable, and accessible tires. Since WorldSBK motorcycles are based on production models, the technologies developed for the championship will be integrated into consumer tire ranges.
Michelin is headquartered in Clermont-Ferrand, France, and operates in 175 countries with a workforce of 129,800. The company has been a leader in engineered materials and mobility solutions for more than 130 years.
