MG Windsor Claims Top Spot in India's EV Market for 2025
JSW MG Motor India reports selling 46,735 units of the Windsor electric crossover in 2025, marking the first time a single EV model has achieved this milestone in India's four-wheeler segment.
The MG Windsor has emerged as India's best-selling electric vehicle for 2025, according to JSW MG Motor India, which announced the achievement today in Gurugram.
The electric crossover utility vehicle sold 46,735 units during the calendar year, maintaining consistent monthly sales of approximately 4,000 units throughout the period. The company states this represents the first time any original equipment manufacturer has reached this sales volume with a single EV model in India's passenger vehicle market.
JSW MG Motor India's overall EV sales increased 111 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year, while the company's total vehicle sales grew 19 percent. Windsor sales specifically rose over 20 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
"The Windsor epitomises a contemporary automotive marvel that has redefined the EV segment with its practicality, technology, and futuristic design," said Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director of JSW MG Motor India.
The Windsor is marketed as India's first "Intelligent CUV," combining design elements from sedans and SUVs. The vehicle is offered through a Battery-as-a-Service pricing model starting at Rs 9.99 lakh plus Rs 3.90 per kilometer. Two battery options are available: a 38 kWh pack with 332 km range and a 52.9 kWh pack offering 449 km range.
The company noted growing demand for electric vehicles beyond major metropolitan areas, with increased adoption in tier-two cities and emerging markets.
JSW MG Motor India was formed in 2023 as a joint venture between SAIC Motor, a Fortune 500 company, and JSW Group. The partnership operates a manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat, with annual production capacity exceeding 100,000 vehicles.
