MG Motor India and DPIIT Unveil Season 6 of Developer Grant Program

JSW MG Motor India announced the launch of Season 6.0 of the MG Developer Program & Grant (MGDP) on Wednesday, in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). The latest edition of the program centers on the theme 'Innovation in Automotive,' targeting future-ready solutions across emerging mobility segments.

Start-ups may apply under several categories, including AI in Automotive, Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Intelligence, Innovation in EV Charging Infrastructure, Sustainability & Circular Economy, Connected Services, Innovation in Logistics and Supply Chain, and Innovation in Manufacturing. Submissions will be evaluated by a jury panel drawn from corporate, academic, and industry organisations, assessed on the basis of originality and real-world applicability.

Sanjiv Singh, Joint Secretary at DPIIT, noted the department's focus on fostering collaboration and India-specific innovation. He said the partnership with JSW MG Motor India reflects a shared commitment to developing the country's future workforce and encouraging practical problem-solving.

Shortlisted participants will receive mentoring from JSW MG Motor India and its ecosystem partners, along with development support, testing access, and potential grant assistance subject to jury approval. Applications are open from today, with the submission deadline set for April 30, 2026. Shortlisted teams will be mentored ahead of Demo Day, scheduled for June 1, 2026.

Since its inception in 2019, the MGDP has received more than 1,550 entries across its first five seasons, with over 290 teams advancing to the first round. More than 100 mentors, including JSW MG Motor India's leadership and technology partners, have guided participants throughout the program. To date, 51 start-ups have been shortlisted and are engaged in various pilot projects.
