JSW MG Motor India has launched the Hector Tomahawk in electric and plug-in hybrid forms, priced from Rs 19.49 lakh and Rs 25.69 lakh, respectively. Both are introductory ex-showroom prices for the complete vehicle.
The company has also announced separate Battery-as-a-Service prices for a limited number of bookings. Under BaaS, the battery cost is separated from the vehicle’s upfront price and recovered through a usage-linked rental charge.
Hector Tomahawk BaaS Prices, Bookings And Delivery Dates
The Tomahawk EV is priced from Rs 13.99 lakh under the programme, with a battery-rental charge of Rs 4.90 per kilometre. The PHEV starts at Rs 21.79 lakh, with a charge of Rs 3.20 per kilometre. Electricity and petrol costs will be additional.
Bookings for both versions have opened at MG dealerships and through the company’s website. EV deliveries will begin in September 2026, followed by the PHEV in November.
“At this price point, customers can step into a C-segment SUV at a price comparable to many B-segment ICE SUVs,” said Parth Jindal, Director, JSW MG Motor India, referring to the EV’s BaaS price.
Jindal said the PHEV’s BaaS price placed it close to diesel automatic SUVs, offering an electrified powertrain without a significant increase in the upfront vehicle cost.
MG ADAPT: The Platform Behind The Tomahawk
The Tomahawk is the first product based on MG ADAPT, the company’s flexible new-energy vehicle architecture that can accommodate battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, range-extended electric and hybrid powertrains.
“When we introduced MG ADAPT, we said the road to new energy would not be the same for everyone. That is exactly why the platform was designed to enable more than one answer,” Jindal said.
Tomahawk EV Offers 517km Range
Its electric motor produces 150kW and 310Nm, enabling the SUV to accelerate from zero to 100kph in a claimed 8.2 seconds.
It supports DC fast charging at up to 90kW, with a 30-80% charge taking around 35 minutes. A 7.4kW home-charging system is also supported.
JSW MG claims the Tomahawk EV is India’s first car with vehicle-to-home technology. The system allows energy stored in the battery to power selected household lights and appliances during an outage. It also offers a vehicle-to-load function for external devices.
The company said the battery had undergone more than 2,000 bench tests and 490 whole-vehicle validations covering high temperatures, extreme cold and high-altitude conditions.
PHEV Gets 20.5kWh Battery, 1.5-Litre Engine
The Hector Tomahawk PHEV combines a 20.5kWh battery with a 1.5-litre petrol engine developed for hybrid applications. The engine has a claimed thermal efficiency of 43.2%.
The PHEV can cover more than 115km in pure-electric mode and has a claimed combined range of over 1,100km with a fully charged battery and a full tank of fuel.
Its powertrain produces 148kW and can accelerate from zero to 100kph in under nine seconds, according to the company.
JSW MG claims that a user driving around 100-150km a day could achieve fuel efficiency of more than 50kpl by covering most of that distance in electric mode. It estimates an efficiency of 22-25kpl for customers charging the vehicle two or three times a week.
The figures depend on charging frequency, the distance covered on battery power and individual driving conditions. They do not account for the electricity consumed while charging.
The hybrid system uses what JSW MG describes as an electromagnetic dedicated hybrid transmission. Its electronic clutch can switch between driving modes in 0.1 seconds.
The system selects between pure-electric, series-hybrid, parallel-hybrid and engine-direct modes based on vehicle speed, accelerator demand, battery charge and road conditions.
In series mode, the petrol engine generates electricity while the motor drives the wheels. Parallel mode uses the engine and electric motor together, while engine-direct mode allows the petrol engine to drive the wheels at highway speeds.
A 10-in-1 drive unit integrates 10 powertrain functions into a single assembly to improve packaging and communication between systems.
Five- And Seven-Seat Configurations
The Hector Tomahawk measures 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,770mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,810mm. JSW MG claims it is the tallest and among the longest vehicles in its segment.
It will be offered in five- and seven-seat configurations. According to company figures, the five-seater has a boot capacity of 610 litres, while the seven-seat version provides 528 litres with the third row folded.
The cabin gets a 39.62cm HD touchscreen, a 22.35cm digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging and a 10-speaker Infinity audio system. The iSmart system provides more than 80 connected features and supports over 30 English voice commands.
Other equipment includes ventilated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory, rear-window sunshades, 256-colour ambient lighting and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof.
The Jio-powered connected package includes a generative AI-based conversational assistant and access to entertainment, regional content and music-streaming services.
Safety equipment includes a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-hold control, ABS with EBD and an electronic parking brake. Level 2 advanced driver-assistance technology provides 11 functions.
JSW MG said the Tomahawk EV would be offered with a lifetime warranty on the high-voltage battery, a three-year unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, three years of roadside assistance and two labour-free services. An assured buyback programme will also be available. Detailed eligibility conditions have not been disclosed.
The PHEV will come with a three-year vehicle warranty, three years of roadside assistance and three labour-free services. Customers will also be able to choose from more than 130 options under MG’s e-Shield ownership programme.
