MG Cyberster Claims Top Position in India's Sports Car Market for 2025
The electric sports car sold over 500 units in six months, helping MG SELECT secure second place in India's luxury electric vehicle segment shortly after its market entry.
JSW MG Motor India has reported that the Cyberster emerged as the country's best-selling sports car during 2025. The vehicle, marketed as the world's fastest MG, achieved sales exceeding 500 units within approximately six months of launch.
The success of the Cyberster has positioned MG SELECT, the company's luxury brand channel, as the second-largest player in India's luxury electric vehicle segment. The brand recently introduced Irises Cyan, a custom color option designed to complement the vehicle's styling.
MG SELECT's portfolio also includes the M9, described as a presidential limousine targeting customers seeking chauffeur-driven luxury vehicles. Both models have contributed to the brand's positioning in the premium electric mobility market.
The Cyberster features a 77kWh battery pack with dual motors producing 510hp and 725Nm, enabling 0-100kph acceleration in 3.2 seconds and offering 580km MIDC-certified range. The vehicle is imported as a fully built unit, facing over 100 percent effective taxation, with MG absorbing substantial duty costs to achieve market viability.
"2025 marked the foundation year for MG SELECT in India," said Milind Shah, Head of MG SELECT at JSW MG Motor India. He emphasized the company's focus on establishing credibility through distinctive products, experience centers, and customer engagement strategies.
The luxury brand channel has expanded its retail presence to 15 experience centers across major Indian markets. MG SELECT has also established partnerships with brands in design, lifestyle, and luxury services sectors to enhance customer experiences.
JSW MG Motor India operates as a joint venture between SAIC Motor and JSW Group, formed in 2023. The company's manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat, has an annual production capacity exceeding 100,000 vehicles.
