Mercedes-Benz Launches New CLA Electric Sedan in India
Starting at Rs 55 Lakh, it debuts a new 800 volt architecture and offers a maximum range of 792 kilometers.
Mercedes-Benz India launched the new CLA battery electric vehicle on April 24, 2026. The new electric sedan is available in three variants: the CLA 200 Standard Range priced at Rs 55 lakhs, the CLA 250+ Long Range at Rs 59 lakhs, and a top spec CLA 250+ Launch Edition priced at Rs 64 lakhs. The company reported over 400 confirmed bookings prior to the official market introduction.
The CLA is the first vehicle to utilize the automaker's new Mercedes Modular Architecture and features an 800 volt electrical system. This supports rapid DC charging up to 320 kW. According to the company, the CLA 250+ Long Range can recover 400 kilometers of range in 20 minutes using a 240 kW charger, while achieving a maximum WLTP certified range of 792 kilometers. The standard range CLA 200 offers a WLTP range of 542 kilometers and can add 320 kilometers of range in the same timeframe.
The new model also includes a new virtual assistant integrated with artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT4, MS Bing, and Gemini. The vehicle comes standard with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, which can be upgraded to Level 2+ capabilities via over the air software updates.
Alongside the vehicle launch, Mercedes-Benz introduced a new High-Voltage Battery Report system. This initiative aims to provide transparency to both new and future buyers by offering an objective, system generated assessment of the high voltage battery's state of charge and overall condition, based on physical and diagnostic evaluations conducted at authorized workshops.
To support the charging infrastructure, the automaker noted that buyers will have access to the MB.CHARGE Public network, which currently aggregates over 9,000 charging points nationwide.
