Matter and IIT Mumbai join forces to develop Formula style electric race car for Formula Student UK competition
Matter inks an MoU with IIT Mumbai to design and manufacture India's first electric Formula style race car.
Matter, an Ahmedabad-based geared electric motorcycle maker, has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Mumbai's racing team, to jointly design and manufacture an electric Formula style race car.
This will be presented at the Formula Student competition, (Formula Student UK (FS), run by Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
As part of the MoU, Matter would extend its support through the deployment of its technical facilities, for the development and testing of components and technologies at its research and development facilities.
Some of the broad areas of cooperation with IIT Mumbai include the 4Q Dyno testing facility for the motor controller, testing facilities for the power pack, BMS testing, cell characteristic testing, and the component development facility.
As per the MoU, Matter & IIT Mumbai will also offer internships to students at IIT Bombay, in various areas of electric mobility development, including hardware, firmware, simulation, and vehicle integration, enabling them to get hands-on exposure to EV technology development.
The MoU will also explore possibilities to engage further in the areas of power electronics safety, inverters, chargers, DCDC converters, hardware, firmware, simulations, and vehicle integration for e-mobility, a per the company press release.
