The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has crossed the 3 million cumulative sales mark, with the announcement made from New Delhi on March 13, 2026. The sedan also held the distinction of being India's highest-selling car in the calendar year 2025.
Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer at Maruti Suzuki India, attributed the milestone to strong and sustained customer preference for the nameplate. He noted that the fourth-generation Dzire has "well and truly reignited the sedan segment," adding that first-time buyers account for nearly 50 percent of the model's customer base, reflecting its continued appeal among aspirational buyers entering car ownership for the first time.
First introduced in 2008 under the 'Heart Car' positioning, the Dzire was notable at launch for bringing segment-first features including dual front airbags, climate control, and Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) to its price bracket. The nameplate has since evolved across four generations, with each iteration expanding on the feature set and refinement levels of its predecessor.
The current fourth-generation model continues to drive volumes for the company, with class-leading features cited as a key driver of customer preference. The 3 million milestone places the Dzire among the most successful passenger car nameplates in the Indian market.
