Mahindra XUV700 waiting period decreases by 4 months

The XUV700 is not just among Mahindra's top-selling SUVs since its launch in 2021, but it has also always had a long waiting period. As we'd reported last month, the XUV700 had a waiting period that stretched up to 13 months, however, that's now dropped by 3-4 months.

Mahindra XUV700 waiting period
The entry-level MX and AX3 trims have the least waiting period of up to 4 months, while the top-spec AX7 and AX7L currently have the maximum waiting period between 8-9 months. Meanwhile, the mid-spec AX5 trim has an average waiting period of 6 months.

Compared to last November, the waiting period of the SUV has reduced by up to 6 months for the AX7 and AX7L petrol and diesel variants. Meanwhile, the MX and AX3 petrol variants' waiting period has gone up by about 2 months, while the diesel versions' has reduced by about six months. What’s also interesting is that the disparity in the waiting period between the petrol and diesel variants has also evened out.

The reduction in the waiting period can be attributed to the fact that Mahindra has been ramping up production of the XUV700 gradually, with numbers set to go up from 6,000 units to 10,000 units a month by March 2024.

Mahindra XUV700 powertrain
The XUV700 gets a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 200hp and 380Nm of torque. It also gets a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine in two states of tune – 155hp, 360Nm, and 185hp with 420Nm (450Nm with the AT).

Both engines are mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, with AWD available as an option, albeit limited to the diesel AT AX7 and AX7L variants only.

Mahindra XUV700 price and rivals
The XUV700 has a very wide price range, starting from Rs 14.01 lakh, going up to Rs 26.18 lakh, ex-showroom. In this price range, it rivals both 5- and 7-seater SUVs such as the Tata Harrier and SafariMG Hector and Hector Plus, and the Hyundai Alcazar.
