Mahindra to Unveil New SUV Platform on August 15
Mahindra is creating capacity at its Chakan, Maharashtra plant for the new platform.
A new Mahindra SUV platform will be unveiled on India’s 78th Independence Day, the brand’s Q4 FY2025 earnings call has confirmed. Among the details we know about the new platform being revealed on August 15 is that Mahindra’s new Chakan plant will be producing it, and it is likely to be the New Flexible Architecture (NFA).

Our sister publication Autocar Professional had exclusively reported that Mahindra has begun work on a new multi-energy platform and that the new Chakan factory would be making new models based on this new platform. Called the New Flexible Architecture (NFA), this monocoque platform will spawn a number of new models from the Indian SUV specialist, which will be capable of utilising petrol, diesel, hybrid and all-electric powertrains. The NFA platform will likely make its debut in a concept.
New Mahindra Bolero, Bolero EV launch likely in 2026
We had also reported earlier than the next-gen Mahindra Bolero is scheduled to arrive in 2026 and likely be based on the NFA. This is corroborated by the company’s plans, which state that 2 mid-cycle facelifts and 1 all-new model will launch next year in India. That the Bolero EV, likely to be based on the same NFA platform, will also arrive in 2026 is hinted at by the brand’s Q4 2024 earnings presentation.
Mahindra plans to have capacity of 1.2 lakh NFA models per year of at its Chakan plant, and is planning a new greenfield plant for FY2028. The brand has also mentioned that it is planning to increase production capacity for the Mahindra Thar Roxx and XUV 3XO in FY2026 by up to 3,000 units.

12 new Mahindra PV launches by the end of the decade
Of the 9 new ICE (internal combustion engine) and 7 EVs planned by the SUV-maker by 2030, Mahindra has launched the XUV 3XO and the Thar Roxx, along with the BE 6 and the XEV.9e, last year. This means that there are still 12 new models in the passenger vehicle space – 7 ICE models and 5 EVs – expected by the brand by the end of the decade.
