Kinetic Engineering Limited (KEL) has granted a brand license to its subsidiary, Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd. (KWV), marking the entry of the Kinetic brand into the electric vehicle (EV) market.

KWV, incorporated on September 27, 2022, was established to explore opportunities in the EV space and is now preparing to unveil its product portfolio, rollout strategy, and partnerships. KEL, along with other promoters, has invested ₹42.83 crores in KWV and is set to release an additional ₹29 crores, bringing the total investment to ₹71.83 crores. This will result in KEL holding an 80% ownership stake in KWV.

Kinetic Engineering Limited plays a key role in India's EV supply chain as a supplier of components such as gearboxes, axles, and chassis. Additionally, the Kinetic Group has expanded its presence in the sector through battery manufacturing under the brand "Range X."

Under the agreement, KWV has been granted a non-exclusive right to use the Kinetic brand name and trademarks for its EV business for an initial period of three years. At the end of this term, KEL and KWV will review the licensing arrangement based on market developments and future expansion plans.

KEL officials noted that this move aligns with the group’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in the EV market. The company aims to combine its manufacturing expertise and brand legacy with advancements in electric mobility to cater to India’s growing demand for sustainable transportation.
