Kia has introduced the Sorento in India with prices starting at ₹27.99 lakh for the seven-seat diesel HTE. The range comprises 2.2-litre diesel and 1.6-litre turbo-hybrid powertrains, with six- and seven-seat configurations, depending on the variant. The top-end price in the range is ₹40.39 lakh for the six-seat hybrid HTX(A) Black Line AWD.
The diesel range uses a Smartstream D2.2 8DCT powertrain, while the hybrid is powered by a Smartstream G1.6 T-GDi HEV 6AT. The six-seat versions use a captain-chair layout. The price structure also includes front-wheel-drive and AWD variants.
The Sorento's introduction follows a decision by Kia India to enter a segment it had previously considered limited in size. The company said the product was initially not part of its India launch plan and required approval from its headquarters before moving ahead.

Kia Sorento diesel and hybrid powertrain strategy
