Kia Seltos Crosses 6 Lakh Sales in India
According to the automaker, top variants account for 29% of total Seltos sales, indicating a shift among buyers towards higher trims.
Kia India on Tuesday said its mid-size SUV, the Kia Seltos, has crossed 6 lakh cumulative sales in the domestic market since its launch in 2019. The company said the milestone reflects sustained demand across variants and continued traction in the mid-SUV segment.
According to the automaker, top variants account for 29% of total Seltos sales, indicating a shift among buyers towards higher trims equipped with additional safety and technology features. At the same time, demand remains distributed across entry and mid-level variants.
Launched in 2019, the Seltos entered the market with multiple powertrain options, including petrol and diesel engines, and automatic transmission choices across fuel types. The model was positioned with a wide feature list that included a large infotainment interface, connected car technology and upgraded interior elements.
Over successive updates, Kia expanded the SUV’s safety and technology offering. The model now includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), additional connectivity functions and an updated safety package. The company said the feature mix has supported consistent demand in both urban and non-metro markets.
Commenting on the milestone, Sunhack Park, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India, said crossing 6 lakh sales reflects continued customer preference for products offering design, safety, technology and performance. He added that the uptake of higher trims indicates increasing acceptance of connected features and driver assistance systems.
The company has also introduced an updated version of the Seltos as part of its next growth phase. The new model measures 4,460 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width and has a wheelbase of 2,690 mm. It retains multiple engine and transmission options while adding a revised digital interface, updated ADAS features and structural safety enhancements.
Kia said the Seltos remains central to its mid-SUV strategy as it seeks to expand its presence in the segment and attract both repeat and first-time buyers.
Kia India began operations in the country in 2017 after signing a memorandum of understanding with the Andhra Pradesh government to set up a manufacturing facility in Anantapur. The plant commenced mass production in August 2019 and has an installed annual capacity of 300,000 units. The company currently has 819 touchpoints across 370 cities in India.
