Kia India Records 105% December Growth Despite Month-on-Month Decline
Automaker posts 15% annual growth with 280,286 units sold in 2025, though December volumes fall 27% from November's 25,489 units.
Kia India sold 18,659 units in December 2025, marking a 105% increase compared to 8,957 units in December 2024. The figure represents the company's highest December sales since entering the Indian market in 2019.
However, December sales declined 27% from November 2025, when the company sold 25,489 units. November had marked the automaker's highest November sales with a 24% year-on-year increase from 20,600 units in November 2024.
For calendar year 2025, Kia India recorded total wholesale volumes of 280,286 units, representing 15% growth over 245,000 units sold in 2024. The company's domestic sales reached 261,627 units through November 2025, compared to 236,043 units during the same period in 2024.
The Kia Sonet crossed the 100,000-unit sales milestone for the second consecutive year, with November sales showing growth exceeding 30% compared to November 2024. The model, along with the Seltos, contributed the majority of the company's sales.
Other models in the portfolio include the Carens, Carens Clavis, Carens Clavis EV, Carnival Limousine, EV6, EV9, and Syros. The recently introduced Seltos is expected to contribute to 2026 sales growth.
Atul Sood, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Kia India, attributed the annual performance to product introductions, trim optimization across models including the Seltos, Carens, and Sonet, and operational efficiencies. Government policies, including GST framework adjustments, also supported consumer demand.
Changes to India's Goods and Services Tax rates during the year contributed to increased demand, particularly for models in the compact SUV segment.
Kia India expanded its distribution network to 821 touchpoints across 369 cities during 2025, up from 819 locations in 370 cities in November. The company exported 3,004 units in November 2025, with total exports for the year reaching 25,279 units through November.
Kia India established its manufacturing facility in Anantapur District, Andhra Pradesh, following a 2017 agreement with the state government. Production began in August 2019, with the plant's annual production capacity at 300,000 units.
The company has dispatched approximately 1.5 million vehicles from the facility, consisting of over 1.2 million domestic sales and more than 367,000 exports. More than 495,000 Kia vehicles with connectivity features are currently on Indian roads.
