Kia India Introduces Syros EV; Begins Pre-Bookings

Kia India has officially unveiled the Syros EV, the electric version of its existing Syros SUV. The company also commenced orders for the new model, establishing an initial token booking amount of 25,000 rupees across its digital portal and nationwide dealership network. Kia did not officially announce the price of the EV, whose ICE variants are priced starting from ₹8.42 lakh

The compact SUV is powered by a liquid-cooled Nickel Manganese Cobalt battery chemistry. Consumers can choose between two distinct energy storage options. The top-tier Extended Range model features a 51.4 kilowatt-hour battery pack that yields an ARAI-certified range of 526 kilometers. This variant delivers a peak output of 171 PS and a 0-100 kmph time of 8.1 seconds according to the company.

The alternate baseline version carries a 42 kilowatt-hour pack, providing a certified range of 443 kilometers. Supported by 100 kW DC fast-charging systems, the battery can replenish its charge from 10 to 80 per cent within 39 minutes.

To counter common adoption barriers, the brand said that it is also introducing alternative financial structures alongside standard sales. The commercial framework includes a 15-year lifetime high-voltage battery warranty, an assured vehicle buyback option, and customized Battery-as-a-Service monthly financing options to reduce upfront acquisition hurdles. On-road charging infrastructure is managed via the unified K-Charge ecosystem inside the MyKia app, which aggregates over 20,300 public charging points operated by 23 separate charge point providers into a single digital transaction wallet.

Kia has made cosmetic adjustments to distinguish it from its ICE variants, incorporating a closed front digital fascia, integrated star-map DRLs, flush-fitting automatic door handles, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
