JSW MG Motor Appoints an Ex-Tata Motors Official to Drive Purchase and Supply Chain

JSW MG Motor India has appointed Amit Rana as Director of Purchase and Supply Chain, as the automaker strengthens its leadership team to support an aggressive expansion in products and operations.

Rana brings experience from leading automakers, including Tata Motors and Hero MotoCorp, where he held roles across procurement and supply chain functions.

“I’ve joined JSW MG Motor India as Director of Purchase and Supply Chain,” Rana said in a LinkedIn post. “As we move toward a ‘new energy’ future, the focus will be on building a world-class, tech-driven procurement ecosystem that supports MG’s reputation for cutting-edge mobility.”

The appointment comes at a time when the automaker is scaling up operations in India, both on the product and manufacturing fronts, as it pivots toward electrified powertrains.

Aggressive Product Pipeline

The company plans to introduce around six new models between 2026 and 2027, with a majority of launches expected to be electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.

This aligns with its strategy to transition into a new-energy-led brand. JSW MG Motor India expects nearly 75% of its total sales to come from new energy vehicles over time.

With a growing product portfolio, a stronger push into EVs and hybrids, and increasing localisation, supply chain efficiency will play a critical role in maintaining cost competitiveness.

The company is also following a targeted product strategy, identifying specific gaps in the market rather than expanding indiscriminately.

JSW MG Motor India has been steadily building momentum in the Indian market. The company reported wholesales of 4,957 units in February 2026, up 24% year-on-year, with demand holding steady across both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) portfolios.

In the same month, the company launched the MG Majestor, a D+ segment SUV positioned as a premium off-road offering.
