JLR India reports its highest ever H1 performance registering 2356 unit sales

JLR India on Thursday reported its best ever H1 fiscal performance to date. During the period from April to September 2023, the company achieved record-breaking sales of 2,356 units, representing a staggering year-on-year growth of 105%.

The company attributed this growth to the unprecedented sales figures in both quarters, with Q2 alone witnessing a remarkable 108% year-on-year growth and retailing an impressive 1,308 units. JLR India's Q1 sales growth was also commendable, reporting a significant 102% increase compared to the same period last year.

Looking ahead to the fiscal year 2024, JLR India's order book has displayed consistent growth, with the H1 closing order book soaring by 90% compared to the previous year. The demand for Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender models remains remarkably strong, accounting for a substantial 72% contribution to the total order book. These remarkable figures translate into an order book that now covers more than eight months of projected sales, the company added.

Rajan Amba, Managing Director, JLR India, said, “We are pleased with our strong performance in H1 and Q2 FY24. The consistent growth in our order book exemplifies the growing strength of our brand and products in the hearts of Indian consumers. We will continue to introduce new products that are best suited to meet the discerning needs of our customers and invest in strengthening our brand desire and client experience.”

As per the company statement, the successful debut of the 24MY Range Rover Velar, coupled with increasing customer demand for the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender models, has played a pivotal role in driving the remarkable sales performance achieved in the first half of the fiscal year. During H1, the Defender emerged as the top-selling model, with an impressive 1,000 units sold. Also, the JLR-certified pre-owned business is flourishing with an 83% growth in H1 FY24.
