Jio-bp Introduces ACTIVE Technology Petrol to Clean Engine Deposits
The fuel company's new petrol formulation promises to remove engine deposits and deliver up to 100 km additional annual mileage at standard pricing, following five years of development work.
Jio-bp has launched its ACTIVE Technology petrol at India Energy Week 2026 in Goa, with Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri visiting the company's exhibition stall on January 29.
The new fuel formulation is designed to clean deposits from critical engine components while vehicles operate, a departure from conventional petrol that primarily prevents deposit formation. The company states the technology can restore engine performance that may have degraded due to accumulated deposits.
According to Jio-bp, regular use of the ACTIVE Technology petrol could enable vehicles to travel up to 100 km further annually compared to standard petrol, based on typical Indian driving patterns. The fuel is offered at the same price as regular petrol.
The product development involved over five years of fuel chemistry research, drawing on bp's fuel research experience. Jio-bp conducted validation testing including a 4,000 km motorcycle trial at Coimbatore test track, with results displayed at the India Energy Week event using borescope imaging to compare engines.
Chairman Sarthak Behuria said the company aims to make advanced fuel technology accessible to all customers rather than positioning it as a premium offering. CEO Akshay Wadhwa noted the fuel addresses both efficiency and maintenance considerations for vehicle owners.
The launch forms part of Jio-bp's broader portfolio, which includes electric vehicle charging infrastructure, aviation fuel, doorstep diesel delivery, and compressed biogas. The joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited and bp operates fuel retail outlets across India.
The company has indicated that terms and conditions apply to the stated mileage benefits, with additional details available on its website.
