Jio-bp and Kia India have announced a partnership to integrate their electric vehicle charging networks, allowing EV owners to access a larger pool of charging infrastructure through each company's existing app.
Under the arrangement, Jio-bp's network of over 7,000 charging points, spread across more than 1,100 sites in 300 cities, will be made accessible through K-Charge, the charging feature embedded within Kia India's MyKia app. This brings the total number of charging points available to Kia EV owners on that platform to over 23,500. The integration works in both directions — Kia's 125 dealership DC fast chargers will be progressively added to the Jio-bp pulse charge pro app, extending the reach of that network as well.
Both apps are designed to cover the full charging process within a single interface. Users can locate available chargers, plan routes, initiate and monitor charging sessions, and make cashless payments without switching between platforms. The companies say further dealership chargers, beyond the existing 125, will be added to the Jio-bp app over time.
Jio-bp DC Fast Charger Range, Uptime and Highway Coverage
On the hardware side, Jio-bp's DC fast chargers range from 60 kW to 480 kW. The higher end of that range is relevant for Kia's newer EV models, which support faster charging speeds. The company reports a network uptime of 96%, and a portion of its charging sites are located along national highways, which is relevant for customers undertaking longer journeys between cities.
How the Jio-bp Pulse Charge Pro App Shows Real-Time Charger Availability
The Jio-bp pulse charge pro app uses AI to provide real-time information on charger availability and network status, which the company says helps address a common concern among EV owners — uncertainty about whether a charger will be operational on arrival, rather than simply whether one exists nearby.
What Is Jio-bp? Reliance BP Mobility Limited Explained
Jio-bp is the operating brand of Reliance BP Mobility Limited, a joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited and bp. The venture combines Reliance's domestic distribution network with bp's experience in fuels and low-carbon mobility. Beyond EV charging, the company's portfolio includes conventional fuel retail, compressed biogas, aviation fuel through its 'air bp-Jio' brand, and on-demand diesel delivery under 'Jio-bp Fuel4U'.
Why Charging Network Integration Matters for EV Owners in India
The partnership comes as India's public EV charging infrastructure continues to expand in response to rising electric vehicle sales. Access to reliable public charging has been identified as a factor influencing EV purchase decisions, particularly for consumers who lack access to home charging or who travel frequently between cities. Integrations of this kind, which pool charging points across networks, are one approach the industry has taken to increase the visibility and usability of existing infrastructure without requiring new physical installations.
