JBM Electric Vehicles Partners with Al Habtoor Motors to Supply Electric Buses in UAE
Indian manufacturer will provide electric buses through UAE distributor to support the country's sustainable transport goals and Net Zero initiative.
JBM Electric Vehicles and Al Habtoor Motors announced a partnership on September 22, 2025, to bring electric buses to the UAE market. Under the agreement, Al Habtoor Motors will serve as the exclusive importer and distributor of JBM's electric buses throughout the country.
The collaboration aims to support the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative by providing electric mobility technology designed to reduce emissions and operating costs while improving public transport infrastructure. The partnership was formalized during a signing ceremony attended by senior leadership from both companies.
JBM Electric Vehicles, part of JBM Auto Ltd., operates one of the world's largest integrated manufacturing facilities for electric buses in India, with capacity to produce 20,000 buses annually. The company's electric buses have traveled over 200 million kilometers, served more than one billion passengers, and saved over 350 million liters of diesel and one billion kilograms of CO2 emissions. JBM has committed to reaching three billion kilometers globally within the next three years.
"The UAE is a strategic market for JBM Electric Vehicles, and we aim to bring our expertise related to the EV ecosystem from the source to the wheel," said Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of JBM Auto. "We are eager to contribute to the UAE government's vision of sustainable transport."
Arya projected that the partnership will reduce CO2 emissions by over 2.8 billion kilograms, save over one billion liters of diesel, and serve over 1.6 billion passengers over a 10-year period.
Al Habtoor Motors will introduce JBM electric buses across multiple segments, including urban city transport, staff shuttles, school buses, airport tarmac vehicles, and intercity tourist coaches.
The buses feature lithium-ion battery systems, safety features, and smart charging capabilities designed to meet UAE national standards and operate in the region's climate conditions.
"This partnership represents a significant milestone in our journey toward green mobility," said Ahmed Al Habtoor, CEO of Al Habtoor Motors. "Together, we aim to be amongst the top two e-mobility players transforming the clean public mobility landscape in the region."
The collaboration will provide turnkey solutions combining electric buses, charging infrastructure, and leasing services. JBM Electric Vehicles is part of the JBM Group, a $3.3 billion conglomerate operating in over 37 countries across sectors including renewable energy and automotive systems. Al Habtoor Motors, part of the Al Habtoor Group, distributes multiple vehicle brands in the UAE including Mitsubishi Motors, FUSO, Bentley, and Bugatti.
