Hyundai Unveils IONIQ 6 N Electric Performance Vehicle at Goodwood Festival

Hyundai Motor Company introduced the IONIQ 6 N at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex, England, marking the company's second high-performance electric vehicle following the IONIQ 5 N. The vehicle demonstrates Hyundai's continued expansion into the electric performance segment.

The IONIQ 6 N produces 650 PS (478 kW) of power and 770 Nm of torque when the N Grin Boost function is activated. The vehicle accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds using N Launch Control and reaches a top speed of 257 km/h. These specifications position the IONIQ 6 N among the fastest production electric vehicles currently available.

The vehicle incorporates an 84.0 kWh battery pack paired with dual motors—a 166 kW unit at the front and a 282 kW unit at the rear, producing a combined 448 kW during standard operation. The battery system supports fast charging, reaching 80% capacity from 10% in approximately 18 minutes under optimal conditions using a 350 kW charger.

Hyundai has redesigned the suspension geometry and chassis for the IONIQ 6 N, implementing stroke sensing electronically controlled suspension dampers that adjust to different driving conditions. The vehicle features aerodynamic enhancements including a swan neck rear wing and widened fenders, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.27 while generating downforce for stability.

The IONIQ 6 N includes several performance-oriented technologies developed by Hyundai's N division. The N e-Shift system simulates traditional gear changes to enhance driver engagement, while the N Active Sound + system provides audio feedback through multiple sound modes. The N Drift Optimizer allows drivers to customize the vehicle's drift characteristics through adjustable parameters.

Additional features include N Launch Control for optimized acceleration, N Grin Boost for temporary power increases, and N Track Manager for performance analysis during track driving. The vehicle measures 4,935 mm in length, 1,940 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,965 mm.

Hyundai's N division originated from the company's motorsport programs and has focused on developing track-capable vehicles for road use. The division previously released the IONIQ 5 N in 2023, establishing Hyundai's presence in the electric performance market. The IONIQ 6 N continues this approach by combining electric powertrains with motorsport-derived technologies.

The vehicle will be available in six exterior colors, including a new Performance Blue Pearl finish. Hyundai plans to offer N performance parts for customers seeking additional customization options, drawing from the company's motorsport experience.

At the Goodwood Festival, Hyundai showcased multiple vehicles from its N lineup during the hill climb event, including the IONIQ 6 N, IONIQ 5 N, and various motorsport-derived models. The company's booth at the festival provided visitors with access to view the complete N range and participate in demonstrations of the vehicles' capabilities.

The IONIQ 6 N represents Hyundai's strategy to compete in the growing electric performance vehicle segment, which has seen increased activity from traditional performance manufacturers adapting to electric powertrains. The vehicle's specifications and features position it as a direct competitor to other high-performance electric sedans in the market.
