Hyundai i20 Crosses 1.5 Million Cumulative Sales in India

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) on Friday announced that cumulative sales of the Hyundai i20 have crossed 1.5 million units in India, nearly 18 years after the premium hatchback was introduced in the domestic market in 2008. The model has been offered across three generations and continues to be sold in standard, N Line and Knight Edition variants.

The i20 has been a key product in Hyundai's passenger vehicle portfolio, with the company stating that the model has evolved over the years through updates in design, technology, connectivity and safety features. According to HMIL, the hatchback has catered to changing customer preferences while remaining positioned in the premium hatchback segment.

"The Hyundai i20 has been one of the most iconic products in Hyundai Motor India's portfolio. Crossing the milestone of 1.5 million cumulative sales is a testament to the trust and loyalty customers have shown towards the brand over nearly two decades," said Sunil Moolchandani, National Sales Head, Hyundai Motor India Limited.

The current Hyundai i20 is powered by a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). The sportier i20 N Line is offered with a 1.0-litre turbocharged GDi petrol engine mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

HMIL said the current model is equipped with features including six airbags as standard, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, connected car technology, electronic stability control, hill start assist, wireless charging and a Bose audio system.
