Honda has patented its UC3 electric scooter in India, expanding the Japanese manufacturer's global electric two-wheeler portfolio, according to the patent filing. The cruiser-style scooter is already sold in Thailand and Vietnam and uses a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, unlike Honda's existing electric scooters.
The UC3 is larger than Honda's recently unveiled QC3 and has a claimed range of 122km, a top speed of 120kph, and a peak output of 6kW.
Battery and Performance
The UC3's LFP battery differs from the lithium-ion NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) batteries used in the Honda QC1 and Activa e. Honda claims a maximum range of 122km per charge.
Charging from 20 to 80 percent takes five hours with the standard 450W charger, or around two hours with the faster 1,200W charger. The motor produces a peak output of 6kW with a claimed top speed of 120kph, placing it above Honda's current electric scooters in India in performance.
Design and Features
The UC3 has a cruiser-inspired design with a kerb weight of 129kg and a seat height of 779mm. It rides on 12-inch wheels at both ends and offers 26 litres of underseat storage. The scooter has three riding modes — Standard, Sport, and Econ — along with a reverse mode, both configurable through a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster.
India Launch Status
Honda has not confirmed plans to launch the UC3 in India. The patent filing protects the scooter's intellectual property in the country and does not indicate an imminent launch. Honda has already unveiled the QC3 for the Indian market. Whether the UC3 is introduced will depend on market demand, product positioning, and the company's broader EV strategy.
