Honda CB300R price slashed by Rs 21,000 under revised GST

The popular Honda CB300R price now starts at Rs 2.19 lakh, down from Rs 2.40 lakh (ex-showroom). The reduced pricing has made the Honda neo-retro naked motorcycle more attractive than before. The move comes in the wake of the updated GST 2.0 slabs, which have lowered taxes for two-wheelers with engine capacities under 350cc.

Earlier this month, Honda had announced that it would pass on the full GST benefit to its smaller-capacity bikes and scooters. Models such as the CB350, CB300F and NX200 were quick to see reductions.

Curiously though, the CB300R was not included in that first set of announcements. Now, Honda has quietly revised the official price of the CB300R on its website, and the numbers are quite telling.

The updated pricing for the CB300R has seen a sizeable drop of Rs 21,000. This price revision makes the Honda CB300R much more competitive in the crowded sub-400cc performance motorcycle space, where it rivals the KTM 250 Duke (Rs 2.12 lakh), Triumph Speed 400 (Rs 2.50 lakh) and TVS Apache RTR 310 (Rs 2.21 lakh–2.87 lakh, depending on variant).

Despite the friendlier price tag, nothing changes mechanically. The CB300R continues to be powered by its 286cc, single-cylinder, DOHC, liquid-cooled motor producing 31hp and 27.5Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox that features a slip-and-assist clutch. The combination gives the Honda a balance of everyday usability and engaging performance, wrapped in its sharp neo-retro styling.

This isn’t the first time the CB300R has seen a price drop. When the bike first went on sale, it was priced at Rs 2.77 lakh. Heavy localisation efforts by the brand later helped bring that figure down to Rs 2.40 lakh, according to sources. The second price cut for the Honda CB300R, thanks to the GST update has enabled Honda to provide  another price correction for the bike.

However, not all news is positive for Honda BigWing customers. While sub-350cc offerings like the CB300R, CB300F, NX200 and CB350 range have benefitted from tax relief, larger-capacity machines such as the NX500, Rebel 500 and CBR650R have gone in the opposite direction, seeing their prices increase by as much as Rs 2.9 lakh as reported by us recently.
