HIVE and KPIT Partner on Light Electric Vehicle Innovation

The collaboration establishes an Independent Center of Excellence in Delhi-NCR to develop design and engineering services for global micromobility and L-category electric vehicle manufacturers.

HIVE and KPIT Partner on Light Electric Vehicle Innovation

HMC E-Valley Pvt. Ltd. (HIVE) and KPIT Technologies Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create an Independent Center of Excellence focused on light electric vehicles and micromobility solutions.

The partnership combines HIVE's manufacturing capabilities with KPIT Technologies' mobility software expertise to address the growing demand for sustainable urban transport solutions. The Center of Excellence will serve global micromobility and L-category electric vehicle original equipment manufacturers, including e-bicycle producers.

According to the companies, over 50% of travel today occurs in last-mile segments, creating significant opportunities for light electric vehicle solutions. The collaboration aims to develop technology-driven products for e-scooters, e-bicycles, and other micromobility platforms.

Under the partnership structure, HIVE will handle business development, client engagement, prototyping, and manufacturing enablement. KPIT Technologies will lead engineering delivery, program management, detailed design, and software systems integration.

Pankaj M Munjal, Chairman of Hero Motors Company, stated that the partnership represents a convergence of hardware and software capabilities aimed at delivering next-generation micromobility solutions globally.

Kishor Patil, CEO and Managing Director of KPIT Technologies, emphasized the importance of intelligent software and systems integration in developing cost-effective and safe light electric vehicle platforms.

HMC HIVE operates as Hero Motors Company's global platform for e-bikes and light electric mobility solutions, with manufacturing facilities in Ludhiana. The company serves international and Indian OEMs as a white-label contract manufacturer.

KPIT Technologies specializes in mobility software solutions with over 25 years of experience in the sector. The company reports having contributed to more than 2,000 vehicle production programs and powers over 20 million vehicles currently on the road.
