Hindustan Zinc Limited and Silox India have strengthened their partnership through Silox India's adoption of EcoZen, Hindustan Zinc's low-carbon zinc brand, across its manufacturing operations.

The collaboration represents a step forward in low-carbon manufacturing practices within India's industrial supply chains, with Silox India integrating EcoZen to reduce the embedded carbon footprint of its zinc-based chemical products.

EcoZen, described as Asia's first low-carbon zinc produced entirely using renewable energy, carries a verified carbon footprint of less than one tonne of CO₂ per tonne of zinc—approximately 75% lower than the global industry average. The product offers traceability and third-party verification, enabling transparent environmental impact accounting.

In galvanising applications, EcoZen use can avoid around 400 kilograms of CO₂ emissions per tonne of steel compared with conventional zinc, according to the companies.

Arun Misra, Chief Executive Officer and Whole-time Director at Hindustan Zinc, said decarbonisation at the company extends beyond its own operations to how its products are used across industries. "By partnering with customers like Silox India, we are enabling the wider adoption of low-carbon solutions at scale," Misra said.

Prakash Raman, Managing Director of Silox India, said the collaboration supports the company's sustainability objectives. "Integrating EcoZen into our manufacturing processes allows us to lower embedded emissions across our product portfolio while continuing to deliver high-performance solutions to our customers," Raman said.

Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company and the world's largest integrated zinc producer, supplies zinc and associated materials to sectors including infrastructure, automotive, power, chemicals and renewables. The company is a member of the International Council on Mining and Metals.

Silox India specialises in inorganic chemistry and non-ferrous metal derivatives, supplying solutions to various industrial sectors. The company is a joint venture between Silox Belgium and India's Transpek group.

EcoZen is supported by third-party verified life-cycle assessments, Environmental Product Declarations, and ISO and REACH certifications. Hindustan Zinc has committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 or sooner.
