Hinduja Group to Invest Rs 2,500 Crore to Expand EV and Mobility Footprint in Tamil Nadu

The Hinduja Group has announced a fresh investment of Rs 2,500 crore in Tamil Nadu, with a major focus on accelerating electric mobility, battery charging infrastructure, and clean energy solutions.

Under a Memorandum of Understanding signed with Guidance Tamil Nadu, the conglomerate's e-mobility arm, OHM Global Mobility, will operationalize electric buses for public transport across the state while scaling its broader mobility ecosystem. The investment will also support opportunities in battery charging networks, digital mobility services, and automotive engineering.

To power its expanding clean mobility network, Hinduja Renewables will develop over 200 MW of solar, wind, and battery storage projects across Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Madurai, and Coimbatore.

"Our Rs 2,500 crore commitment is a statement of our confidence in Tamil Nadu and our desire to participate in its next phase of growth. With its strong industrial base, talent and renewable energy potential," said Ashok Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Group of Companies (India).

The initiative further strengthens the group's extensive automotive and mobility footprint in Tamil Nadu, which includes commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland, electric bus manufacturer Switch Mobility, and engineering services firm Hinduja Tech. It follows a previous Rs 7,500 crore agreement signed in September 2025 for EV ecosystem investments, as well as Ashok Leyland's Rs 500 crore battery pack assembly plant currently under construction in Pillaipakkam.
