Hero MotoCorp Partners with VELOSA to Expand Motorcycle Distribution in El Salvador
Indian two-wheeler manufacturer appoints Oriental Motors as its new distributor, opening a flagship store and expanding to more than 30 authorized dealers across the country.
Hero MotoCorp, the New Delhi-based motorcycle and scooter manufacturer, has entered a distribution agreement with VELOSA (Oriental Motors, S.A.) to expand its retail and service network in El Salvador.
To mark the start of operations, VELOSA opened a Hero flagship store on Calle El Progreso in San Salvador, with two additional sales outlets at Metrocentro San Salvador and Plaza Mundo Soyapango. The company has also established partnerships with dealers nationwide, bringing the total number of authorized Hero dealers in the country to more than 30.
Hero MotoCorp El Salvador: Service Network and Warranty Coverage
Integrated sales, aftersales, and genuine-parts services are available at the Calle El Progreso flagship, Hero Merliot, and Santa Ana locations. The Metrocentro San Salvador and Plaza Mundo Soyapango outlets are focused on motorcycle sales only.
As part of the partnership, Hero MotoCorp will offer a five-year or 60,000-kilometre warranty on its product range, along with four complimentary service check-ups.
Hero MotoCorp on Its El Salvador Growth Strategy
Sanjay Bhan, Executive Vice President for Global Business at Hero MotoCorp, said the company has served around 50,000 customers in El Salvador over the past 13 years, with models such as the Hunk and Xpulse contributing to brand recognition in the market. "Through its new alliance with VELOSA, Hero is entering its next phase of growth, with a focus on enhancing the customer experience, expanding service coverage and strengthening end-to-end customer support," he said.
Carlos Landaverde, Commercial Manager at VELOSA, said the company intends to build on the customer base Hero has developed in the country. "Our objective is to build on the trust Hero has earned over the years and provide a superior experience for existing and future Hero customers," he said.
VELOSA replaces Hero MotoCorp's previous distribution arrangements in El Salvador. The shift reflects a broader effort by the Indian manufacturer to consolidate its Central American operations under distributors with established automotive networks in the region.
Hero MotoCorp's Global Footprint and Central America Push
Hero MotoCorp is the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters by volume, a position it has held for 25 consecutive years. The company generates approximately $5 billion in annual revenue and operates manufacturing facilities in India, Colombia, and Bangladesh. Its products are sold across 53 countries, with a cumulative customer base of over 130 million.
In Central and Latin America, the company has pursued growth through regional distribution partnerships rather than direct operations. It holds a manufacturing presence in Colombia and has dealer networks across several Central American markets.
Hero MotoCorp's EV and Premium Motorcycle Alliances
Hero MotoCorp has also been expanding into electric vehicles through its VIDA brand and holds strategic investments in EV manufacturers Ather Energy and Euler Motors. The company has separate alliances with Harley-Davidson and Zero Motorcycles for premium and electric motorcycle development.
