Haryana Gives 100% Tax Waiver On EVs Up To ₹30 Lakh, 50% Above; CNG Unchanged

The Haryana Cabinet has approved a 100% exemption from motor vehicle tax on the registration of new battery electric vehicles (BEVs) with an ex-showroom price of up to ₹30 lakh, significantly enhancing the state’s incentives for electric mobility.

Battery electric vehicles priced above ₹30 lakh will be eligible for a 50% exemption from motor vehicle tax.

"A Significant Upgrade From Haryana's Previous EV Incentives"

The decision marks a substantial enhancement of Haryana’s existing EV policy. While battery electric vehicles earlier received a 20% one-time exemption from motor vehicle tax, the benefit has now been increased to a full exemption for vehicles priced up to ₹30 lakh. The existing 20% one-time motor vehicle tax exemption for CNG vehicles will continue unchanged.

The decision was approved by the Haryana Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, in line with announcements made in the state’s 2026-27 Budget.

The revised tax structure is expected to benefit most mass-market electric vehicles sold in India, while also extending partial tax relief to premium EVs priced above ₹30 lakh.

"Additional: 1% Tax Rebate for Women Buying Cars Up To ₹20 Lakh"

Apart from the EV measures, the Cabinet also approved a 1% rebate on motor vehicle tax for new non-transport vehicles with an ex-showroom price of up to ₹20 lakh that are registered in the name of a woman.

The latest measures are aimed at accelerating electric vehicle adoption in the state while making Haryana’s EV incentive regime among the more attractive ones in the country. They are also expected to help retain vehicle registrations within the state by reducing the incentive for buyers to register vehicles in neighbouring states offering lower taxes.
