Gujarat gears up for 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024

Th theme for the tenth Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit from January 10-12 is 'Gateway to the Future.'

The Gujarat government announced on Saturday, 30 December, that more than 28 countries will be in attendance for the 10th edition of its Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024, which is scheduled to take place from 10-12 January 2024. 

The event in Gandhinagar which serves as a platform for business leaders and investors, is expected to see a slew of announcements, the most anticipated being Tesla's supposed entry to India. Media reports stated that Tesla is expected to set up its manufacturing plant in Gujarat, with an official announcement likely at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit in January 2024.

Nations including  Australia, Bangladesh, Czech Republic, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Malta, Morocco, Mozambique, Nepal, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Republic of Korea, Rwanda, Singapore, Tanzania, Thailand, the UAE, United Kingdom, Uruguay, Ghana, and Vietnam, are expected to participate in the summit, an official release said.

The event will be inaugurated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is expected to have the participation of several heads of state including the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the President of Mozambique.

Currently, the UAE stands as the seventh-largest investor in India in terms of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

The summit is likely to attract investments focusing on emerging sectors like semiconductors, green hydrogen, e-mobility, renewable energy, and FinTech among others, the state government said in a release .

"Crucial to the summit's success, partner countries, and partner organisations will contribute by actively participating in sectoral and country seminars, in alignment with the overarching vision of Viksit Bharat@2047," it added.

VGSS 2024 is expected to conduct seminars and conferences on technology and innovation--drivers of inclusive growth, semiconductors, electronics, and EV startups.

On the final day of the summit, seminars and conferences on subjects including circular de-carbonisation of the economy, carbon trading, waste-to-energy recycling, are expected to take place.
