GreenCell Mobility Operates 1,500 e-buses Across 17 Cities, Targets 4,500-Bus Fleet in 30 Cities
The company carries 2.75 lakh passengers daily and claims up to 50% fuel cost savings for state transport undertakings.
Mumbai-based electric bus operator GreenCell Mobility (GCM) currently runs over 1,500 electric buses across 17 cities in five states and is targeting a fleet of 4,500 buses across 30 cities in 10 states, the company announced on April 28, 2026. Backed by Eversource Capital, GCM serves approximately 2.75 lakh passengers per day, covering nearly 2.85 lakh kilometres, with each bus averaging 200 km daily.
The company operates in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi, Puducherry, and Gujarat, and claims up to 95% bus availability. State transport undertakings using GCM's fleet have recorded close to 50% savings on fuel costs compared to conventional diesel operations.
GCM's fleet features multi-camera surveillance, GPS-based tracking, real-time vehicle health monitoring, and passenger information systems. Safety measures include panic buttons, wheelchair accessibility ramps, fire extinguishers, seat belts, and dedicated emergency response for women passengers. Coach captains undergo daily breath analyser tests and are assessed through a performance-based grading system.
The company has also established centralised command centres for fleet oversight and runs regular training programmes covering safety, battery management, and operational protocols.
GCM said it is working to increase women's participation in the transport workforce as part of a broader push for inclusive employment across its operating network.
