Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML) has achieved a new milestone with its latest electric three-wheeler, the Eltra City XTRA. The vehicle recently completed a 324-kilometre journey from Bengaluru, Karnataka to Ranipet, Tamil Nadu on a single charge. This performance has earned the vehicle a spot in the India Book of Records for the longest distance covered by an electric passenger three-wheeler without recharging.
The journey, titled "Freedom Ride 2.0", was flagged off from the Greaves Electric Mobility Tech Center in Bangalore and concluded at the Ampere factory in Ranipet. The event was organised to highlight the capabilities of electric three-wheelers in practical, long-distance use, especially for city and peri-urban applications.
Manoj M P, Chief Business Officer of GEML, stated that the Eltra City XTRA was designed to provide reliable, high-performance mobility solutions for everyday users. The new model builds on the previous version, the Eltra City, which completed a 225-km journey from Bangalore to Mysore in 2024.
The Eltra City XTRA is equipped with a 9.5 kW peak power motor and a 10.75 kWh IP67-rated LFP battery. It offers a range of approximately 170 km in typical operating conditions (driver plus three passengers), a top speed of 60 kmph, and supports a payload of up to 330 kg. Other features include 12-inch radial tyres, a 6.2-inch PMVA digital cluster with BLE connectivity, and a charging time of 4 to 5 hours.
The vehicle is backed by a 5-year or 1.2 lakh kilometre battery warranty and a 3-year or 80,000 kilometre vehicle warranty. Managing Director Vikas Singh noted that the ride demonstrates the role electric vehicles can play in supporting livelihoods and contributing to India’s push for cleaner transportation.
