German Chancellor Friedrich Merz Visits Bosch India Campus in Bengaluru
Federal Chancellor tours Bosch facilities during India trip, viewing hydrogen truck technology and AI security solutions at the company's Adugodi headquarters.
German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz visited the Bosch India campus in Adugodi, Bengaluru, on Monday as part of his official trip to India. Guruprasad Mudlapur, President of the Bosch Group in India and Managing Director of Bosch Limited, hosted the delegation at the company's headquarters.
During the visit, Merz viewed a hydrogen internal combustion engine demonstrator truck featuring an integrated powertrain and telematics system. Bosch India is collaborating with Bosch Germany on hydrogen technology development aimed at zero-emission mobility solutions.
The delegation also received presentations on Bosch's software offerings, including AIShield, an AI security solution designed to protect AI systems. The product includes over 150 patents in AI security.
Mudlapur said the visit affirmed Bosch's presence in India and highlighted the country's position as a center for technological innovation and economic development. He described the occasion as significant for the partnership between India and Germany.
The visit reflects the economic and technological relationship between the two countries in mobility, manufacturing, and innovation sectors. German companies have maintained a presence in India's industrial development over several decades.
Bosch has operated in India since 1951 and currently runs 17 manufacturing sites and seven development and application centers across the country. The company operates through 14 entities in India, with Bosch Limited serving as the flagship company.
In fiscal year 2024-25, Bosch India reported net revenue of 373,457 million rupees, equivalent to approximately 4.13 billion euros. The company employed 38,655 people as of March 31, 2025. Bosch Limited recorded revenue from operations of 18,087 crores rupees (1,985 million euros) in the same fiscal year.
Bosch India maintains the company's largest development center outside Germany, focusing on engineering and technology solutions. The facility supports both domestic and international markets.
The Bosch Group globally employs approximately 418,000 people and generated sales of 90.3 billion euros in 2024. The company operates across four business sectors: Mobility, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy and Building Technology.
