FlixBus Expands Network Capacity On Key Intercity Corridors

FlixBus increased network capacity on several intercity routes in August as travel demand rose around Independence Day, Raksha Bandhan and Onam. The company expanded services on selected high-demand corridors to cater to the seasonal increase in passenger movement.

The Jaipur–Dehradun corridor saw a 33 percent month-on-month increase in network capacity, while Delhi–Amritsar increased by 25 percent. Capacity on Hyderabad–Tirupati rose 150 percent, and the Chennai–Vijayawada corridor recorded a 67 percent increase.

The expansion was driven by changes in route-level demand during the festive travel period. FlixBus said the additional services were intended to provide more travel options while allowing its regional fleet partners to respond to higher passenger volumes.

FlixBus Network Expansion On Key Routes

According to Surya Khurana, managing director, FlixBus India, the company is using demand patterns to determine where additional network capacity is required. He said the expansion across the selected corridors reflects this approach and the company's focus on expanding its intercity network in India.

The increase in capacity comes as intercity bus travel sees higher movement between major cities, pilgrimage destinations, leisure locations and regional centres. Festive occasions such as Raksha Bandhan and Onam also contribute to travel between metropolitan cities and hometowns or nearby destinations.

FlixBus said it uses periods of higher demand to assess route-level performance and adjust network capacity. The company works with regional fleet partners to scale operations on corridors where demand is strongest.
