Teledyne Technologies subsidiary Flir has launched the iXX-Series, a new line of thermal cameras that integrate app-based functionality with traditional thermography tools for asset condition monitoring and building inspections.
Released on September 16, 2025, the camera series addresses challenges in traditional thermal inspection workflows, which the company describes as often complex and difficult to scale across organizations. The iXX-Series operates on Flir's ACE platform, allowing the cameras to run both proprietary and third-party applications.
The cameras offer thermal imaging resolution up to 480 × 640 pixels with Flir's MSX enhancement technology, which overlays visible details onto thermal images. Additional specifications include an 8-megapixel visual camera, 40 mK NETD thermal resolution, and measurement accuracy of ±2°C.
A central component of the system is Assetlink, Flir's browser-based software that connects thermal images to asset hierarchy structures. The integration is designed to reduce time spent on documentation—which traditionally consumes up to 50% of technician time, according to the company—by automating data organization and report generation.
Cloud connectivity is available through Wi-Fi or LTE on select models, enabling real-time data uploading and team communication directly from the device.
The product launch comes as maintenance teams face personnel shortages. Flir cites industry data indicating that approximately 60% of maintenance teams report a lack of skilled thermographers. The iXX-Series includes guided workflows and an onboarding application intended to enable users with varying experience levels to conduct inspections.
Rob Milner, Director of Business Development at Flir, compared the approach to smartphone usage, where value comes from applications rather than hardware alone. The platform also supports custom private applications for organization-specific requirements.
The cameras are positioned for electrical and mechanical inspections in manufacturing, industrial facilities, data centers, and utility operations. Additional applications include building diagnostics, moisture detection, HVAC assessments, and energy loss evaluation.
Flir holds ISO 27001 accreditation for information security management, and the iXX-Series includes device management capabilities for secure data handling in enterprise environments.
