Fire at Supplier Facility Causes Temporary Disruption to Hyundai Motor India Production

A fire broke out at a manufacturing facility operated by Mobis India Limited in Irrungattukottai, Kancheepuram District, Tamil Nadu, during the late afternoon of May 31, 2026. No fatalities have been reported in connection with the incident.

Supply chain impact

The affected Mobis facility supplies audio components and select other automotive parts to Hyundai Motor India. Given its role in the automaker's supply chain, the incident is expected to cause a temporary disruption to vehicle production.

Hyundai and Mobis teams are jointly assessing the extent of damage to the facility. The company has stated that alternative sourcing and supply continuity measures are being actively explored to limit operational impact.

Customer impact and outlook

Hyundai Motor India sought to reassure customers, noting that sufficient vehicle inventory exists within its dealer network to meet near-term demand. The company did not provide a timeline for the restoration of normal production levels.

The disclosure was signed by Pradeep Chugh, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of Hyundai Motor India Limited, and filed simultaneously with the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE Limited on June 1, 2026.
