Ferrari Unveils 849 Testarossa at First National Premiere in India

Ferrari unveiled the Ferrari 849 Testarossa in India at a national premiere held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on March 15. The event marked the first time the company has organised a national reveal in the country and formed part of its efforts to expand engagement with India’s community of clients and enthusiasts.

The unveiling was led by Ferrari Chief Executive Officer Benedetto Vigna and Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Enrico Galliera, who presented the vehicle and discussed its engineering, performance characteristics and design approach.

The programme was organised in two parts. Earlier in the day, Ferrari hosted a media session where journalists were given a detailed overview of the vehicle’s technical features and design philosophy. In the evening, the company held a client event and gala dinner attended by more than 500 guests, where the model was introduced to members of the Ferrari owner community and invited clients.

CEO Benedetto Vigna said India represents a market with long-term potential for the company, citing the country’s entrepreneurial environment and growing interest in performance cars. Ferrari said Indian owners are among the youngest globally and have shown strong engagement with driving and motorsport culture.

Ferrari supports its operations in India through dealerships in Mumbai and New Delhi, along with a service facility in Bengaluru. The network provides sales and aftersales support to customers across the country.

Vehicle Overview

The Ferrari 849 Testarossa is a plug-in hybrid super sports berlinetta positioned at the top of the company’s range and replaces the SF90 Stradale. The model combines a twin-turbo V8 engine with three electric motors to deliver a combined output of 1,050 cv.

The internal combustion engine produces 830 cv at 7,500 rpm and 842 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The hybrid system includes a battery with a capacity of 7.45 kWh and supports an electric driving range of up to 25 km in eDrive mode.

The vehicle uses an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and electronic control systems including Side Slip Control 9.0, traction control, electronic differential and ABS Evo. Ferrari said the model incorporates aerodynamic features such as a twin-tail rear design and an active rear spoiler.

According to the company’s specifications, the car can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in under 2.3 seconds and reach a top speed of more than 330 km/h.

The Mumbai premiere forms part of Ferrari’s broader strategy to expand its presence in India as the country’s luxury performance car market continues to develop.
